Περίληψη:Modern technology, particularly chemistry, frequently tackles the problem of the conservation of architectonic surfaces by using a wide range of products. In the absence of any specific indication concerning the compatibility between the surface to be restored and the product applied, these products often do more damage in a short space of time than that which occurs naturally over many centuries. There would thus seem to be a need for control procedures to determine the behaviour of such products over time according to the surface on which they have been used and the type of alteration they undergo. The main aim of the research is to devise a qualitative and quantitative method to evaluate the behaviour over time of products used for the protection and restoration of architectonic surfaces, and to establish a univocal criterion for certifying their performance. The only way to achieve this objective is via a preventative process of standardizing and rationalizing all the activities preceding, accompanying and following the action itself The homogenization and standardization of the procedures for recording data and information concerning the action to be taken allow data to be obtained that can be compared at a distance and over time and definite and uniform measurements of the behaviour of a given product over time to be made periodically. Research currently under way is aimed at setting up an information system that can be used to define these methods and to create the necessary links between the signs of decay and their geometrical location on the building. An equally important aim is to use quantitative data (e.g. surface area/cost ratio) to obtain objective parameters for planning maintenance procedures and drawing up rapid, accurate and economical estimates.
